PIPE LINE
Segue a entrevista que fiz com o engenheiro da obra de reparação da tubulação que abastece a hidrelétrica de St. Vincent.
RVA GOES
TO HYDROELECTRIC PIPE LINE
Last
week, the Climate Compliance Conference team went to the hydroelectric pipe
line, that is being rebuilted after the
destruction caused by a big flood, two years ago.
Electrical Services Company decided to rebuilt
the old pipe line that was made of wood, and wants it to be done using a modern
technology as fiberglass. So, the Electrical Company contracted an
Colombian Company named O-Tec International to do that work, and we talked with
the civil engeneer Mr. Georgios Vavaroutsos Perez who is encharged to leader
the reconstruction of the pipes. RVA –
What do you have to say to us about your work here in St. Vincent? Mr. Giorgios
– The Electrical Company acquire my services to advice in installation of the
new pipe, and after studies it was decided that fiberglass pipes are the best
solution, for many reasons. At first,
they are lighter than concrete and steel, and easier to transport. They can be
installed in a manufacturing process, that is friendlier to environment, and
has minor roughness index. RVA –
And what are you doing to cause less damage to environment? Mr. Giorgios
– The constructive process was to bury the pipes, in order to perform a good
protection to them, and make possible to plant
trees in the area of the site. RVA –
Do you think that it will be possible to rebuilt the original forest? Mr. Giorgios
–The original forest was damaged when the first pipes were installed. Now, we
are burying the pipes and then we are going to plant trees over them. It will
be much better than it was. We are, at the same time providing energy to St.
Vincent, and planting trees in a place where they had been cut. RVA -
How is the work going on? Mr. Giorgios – We have studied carefully the
environment, and are working hard to cause the minimal impact. So, we guarantee
that the material that we get from trench were the pipes are being placed, will
be used again and not deposited in areas
that affect the riverbed. We are also taking care in order to cause no landslides neither slopes or erosion
in the project area. And after ending, we are going to plant trees over the brench. RVA –
Ok, Mr. Giorgios. It was a very nice class. Thank you very much.

ResponderExcluirO seu inglês está MARAVILHOSO!!!!! Hoje, lembrei de um verso que você me ensinou no Mackenzie:
A siriema do Mato Grosso
Caiu no poço
Quebrou o pescoço
Peguei o osso
Coloquei no bolso
Daquele moço
Comi no almoço
Lembrei disto, porque estava assistindo TV e falaram do pássaro.
